„Healthy, well-kept colonies in a harmonious environment are my pride and joy.“
Luis Rozas Escobar | Chile

Luis Rozas Escobar has discovered his true calling in the Chequénlemu Valley in the Curicó region of Chile. When he decided to pursue a new career path around seven years ago, he courageously embarked upon a fresh start with 20 bee colonies. Today, the 67-year-old cares for his 180 colonies independently and with passion. For Luis, beekeeping is more than just a craft; it has become a fulfilling mission in life.

Surrounded by wooded hills, the valley offers the bees a sheltered habitat. As a result of the favourable climate, valuable nectar sources such as the quillay (soapbark) tree thrive here magnificently. Luis follows the rhythm of the seasons with the utmost attentiveness and derives great joy from the wonders of nature – such as the hatching of a new queen bee. His wish is to actively support and nurture the natural balance of his homeland through his work.

„Every day, I work with wonderful creatures. I treat each and every bee colony with the utmost care, for they have long since become an integral part of me.“
